What It’s Really Like Staying at Universal’s Helios Grand Hotel

Our family stayed at Universal’s Helios Grand Hotel last summer, and it quickly became one of our favorite Universal resort experiences. We booked a How to Train Your Dragon Kids Suite with a theme park view, and from the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how beautiful and thoughtfully designed the resort was. This was a graduation trip to celebrate my son's graduation, so we went for an over-the-top experience.

A Room That Delighted Everyone at Helios Grand Hotel

The suite was large and comfortable, with plenty of space for everyone to spread out. The kids’ room was themed after How to Train Your Dragon, and it was absolutely perfect. The rest of the suite included a spacious living room, our bedroom, and a modern bathroom that felt more like a spa than a hotel. It struck the perfect balance between fun and luxury, which made it great for both families and couples.

At night, one of the highlights was watching the Cosmos Fountain Show in Celestial Park right from our room. Seeing the lights and music dance together from our window felt magical. We did not even need park tickets to enjoy it, which made it an ideal way to wind down after a busy day.

Location and Atmosphere

The location of Helios Grand Hotel could not be better. Being right next to Epic Universe made starting each morning a breeze. We could take our time getting ready, have breakfast, and still make it to the park with no rush. It was just as easy to come back midday for a break before heading out again.

Helios is part of the Signature Collection and feels welcoming and relaxed rather than overly formal. The resort has an upscale look, but the atmosphere remains calm and inviting.

Dining at Helios Grand Hotel

If there was one thing I wished for, it was a larger quick service option. Like Sapphire Falls, Helios offers sit down dining, grab and go selections, and poolside service, but no dedicated quick service restaurant where they have a full kitchen they can prepare a meal in. That said, the food we had was excellent. The chefs at the sit down restaurant did well with my celiac disease and food allergies though!

Poolside Relaxation and Family Time

We spent time at the pool between park days, and it was just as beautiful as the rest of the resort. The area was peaceful during the day, with plenty of places to relax. It was the perfect spot to recharge before heading back into the excitement of the parks. My family loved how easy it was to switch from adventure mode to vacation mode in just a few steps.

Final Thoughts

Our stay at Universal’s Helios Grand Hotel was everything we hoped it would be. The convenience of being right next to Epic Universe, combined with the spacious suite and attentive service, made it a standout experience. Watching the fountain show from our room each night was the perfect way to end our days.

If you are planning a Universal Orlando vacation, Helios Grand Hotel is absolutely worth considering. It blends comfort, creativity, and convenience in a way that makes your entire stay feel seamless and memorable.
